Inside your cells

If we zoom in on our bodies, we can see they’re made up of lots of tiny building blocks called cells.

Zoom in and get close, we’re looking at cells in our lab.

There are lots of types of cells in your body. These cells all have different jobs to do, and this means that they can look quite different. They need to be the right size and shape to do their job properly.

For example, muscle cells need to help your muscles stretch and move. So muscle cells have tiny parts inside them that are like little ropes or threads that help them to stretch so that they can move your muscles.

Our scientists are trying to find out about different types of cells and the parts inside them. Knowing more about how cells work means that we know more about how life works.
