Seeing inside fruits

This activity will take 5 minutes, is for all ages with no supervision needed.

Core-blimey! What are these fruits?

How can we see what's going on inside our bodies if we can't see through them? MRI and CT scanners are machines that can take an image inside something.

For this activity, we used MRI and CT scanners to take images inside whole fruits to see what's under their skin. You can become a radiologist and guess the fruits by looking at the squishy, watery and hard bits inside them.

Words you might hear alongside an MRI or CT scan:

Radiologist – a doctor who looks at images.
Radiographer – a specialised technician who takes the images. They work in the radiology department of a hospital.

Why are radiographers the nicest people in the hospital? Because they're ultra-sound!
